A Character Analysis of Nora in Ibsen's A Doll's House It is a general consensus that women play more than one role after they are married and have a family. These roles include wife, mother, chauffeur, and nurse. In A Doll's House, Nora is given many roles to play and, though some of the above are included, she also plays the role of child, friend, confidante, and manipulator. But the greatest feat that she accomplishes is her star performance as doting daughter and submissive spouse. Nora has been acting out a role to fit everyone's expectations of her since she was a small child. "When I was home with Daddy, he told me all his opinions, and so they became my options too. If I disagreed with him I kept it to myself, for he wouldn't have liked that.
